  1. As per your suggestion to my tweet (twitter.com/pavanaja) I am posting my query here-

I have a SB account with SBI, RPC Layout, Bangalore. I have been registered for online banking and I use it for balance checking. I wanted 3rd party fund transfer facility. I was asked to fill up a form and did so. It was no activated even after a month. I went to the bank and complained. I was given the same form again to fill up which I did. After a month or so, the facility has been added to my account. When I tried to add an account for fund transfer, the web-site asked me to download a form with some ref no, fill it and give it to the branch. I did so. But in the bank, they told me that the ref no on the form, which was generated by your web-site, does not tally with the ref no they have.

My question is -why is that once 3rd party fund transfer is enabled, every time why we have to fill up a form, physically go to the branch and submit it? If I have to do fund transfer to different persons/agencies, every time I have to fill up a form to include that account. Why is it so? Citibank and HDFC Bank don't have this stupid procedure

    Expecting a reply soon.

    Regards,
    Pavanaja

  2. Thanks for your query, Mr Pavanaja
Keeping in mind the security and safety concerns of the increasing risks of phishing and online fraud, we have a validation/authentication process of adding third party beneficiaries for funds transfer.Although this facility has been added to your account, but your mobile number has to be updated with the branch and should be present in your online account.
Profile--> Personal Details --> Mobile number.
In case no mobile number is updated (as is seemed to be your case) system will ask you to download that so called form every time you add a new third party to prevent any unauthorised access. It would be helpful if you kindly check to see if you have your mobile number updated in your account following the link above.
In case you don't have your mobile number updated. kindly fill in your mobile number in the "personal details" section and click "submit". you will then be prompted to download a form with a ref number. Just put your signature into it and submit it to your branch. This is one time activity. Immediately after that quick approval from the branch you can start adding new third party accounts. With each adding of third party you will need to approve that third party yourself with a one time SMS password delivered instantly to your mobile. this is all.
Was it helpful? let us know. kindly remember and spread "SBI never sends email for getting customer information" inform us if you receive any such suspicious communications.
    Thanks & regards
